The Power of Innovation

Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity – not a threat

Just as we say and prove through science that all the parts of a universe are interconnected similarly in an organization all the departments and the people working in the departments of any organization are interconnected. Small innovations can bring big success to the whole organization and this is possible only through cooperation and diversity in thinking.

Innovation in work and in daily practice can bring out a whole new world. Innovation can bring a revolutionary change only if we all remain steadfast. Innovation can help in improving communication, making others helpful and considerate, Individuals would have greater interest in their work and in the work of others.

But the question lies that how to bring out innovation? The answer lies in just one word “thoughts”. We need to think to bring innovation.

Edwin H. Land says and I follow:

“The essential part of creativity is not being afraid to fail.”

Thinking is the cause of things to happen. Actions come from thoughts. Consequently, organizations are in large part shaped by the way people think and interact. To make organizations more innovative, we must change how people think and interact. Considering the fact; thoughts are generative, is important to innovate swiftly, continually and effectively. The primary hurdles to innovation lie in our most basic ways of thinking. The major problem with most of us is that we most often only think about WHAT we think, rarely HOW we think. The problem is behind us, not in front of us. Many of our old thoughts and perceptions continue to affect our actions even though we are no longer consciously aware of them. By changing our thoughts, we release ourselves from the past. By keeping in mind to bring innovation people would spend more time on ‘how’ they are thinking not only ‘what’ they are thinking and would listen to others more effectively rather than judging them before hand.

Many of us find it difficult to embrace the principle that says, everyone is Creative and Innovative. But this is something natural in anyone because of the rigid ways in which we have been brought up. We are subject to criticism from our very childhood in small deeds which lead us not to show any new idea and follow the old ones. It was also once thought that creativity and innovation existed only in the research and development or technology departments. But in fact it has always been associated with the people who know the most on a subject.

In truth, creativity and innovation is not limited to a chosen few. It is not based on one’s intelligence, and it can be learned through our own efforts and the proper environment in the workplace. Every day you are generating new and useful ideas. It is only a matter of increasing your skill at it.

When initiating or participating in an innovative process, we must recognize everyone’s creative ability. Anyone can come up with a good idea, a great idea, or an idea that is valuable to the end result we are seeking. If we believe that everyone is innovative and creative then people would share their thoughts more openly.  People’s ideas would be explored rather than shot down. The whole environment would be more innovative and radical thinkers would be welcomed.

So don’t be afraid to come up with new ideas in your life. You never know these small ideas could bring a revolution in the world keep thinking and try to implement your thoughts without being afraid of failure and with a spirit to INNOVATE
